May Brixham Trip

01Jun

I took my mum for her first trip to Forget-Me-Knot Cottage last week and she absolutely loved it!  She was amazed by the view from the top room and loved sitting looking out to the harbour, we sat and watched the harbour bustle during the day and listened to the bells at night.  I added a few new items to the cottage which I am sure some of our regulars will notice – my favourite being the Golden Hind replica ship that I found at Totnes Hippy market for a bargain £20!  It was dusty and dirty but after a good clean it now has pride of place in the top room where you can see the full size replica ship in the bay!

Mostly we went exploring lots of different beaches and coves, we walked Berryhead and St Marys Bay, took the Battery Gardens coastal path to Fishcombe Cove and onto Broadsands Beach and made the scenic walk across to Elberry Cove and spent the afternoon basking in the May sunshine.  I got some beautiful photographs, the coastline is so picturesque.

We enjoyed some lovely lunches too at Churston Court, Fat Lemons in Totnes and The Old Market House at Brixham Harbour.  Neither of us wanted to come home! But I had guests arriving, so until the next trip …. 😉

Fat Lemons

01Jun

On my latest trip to Forget-Me-Knot Cottage with my mum, we took a drive into Totnes and stumbled across the yummiest veggie/vegan/gluten free cafe called Fat Lemons! Even if you aren’t veggie/vegan or gluten free I am positive you would love the food! Everything was fresh and homemade, I literally could have eaten the whole menu!  We had the homemade roasted vegetable soup and a sandwich – I have to say the soup was the best I have ever had and the bread was so fresh, I truly cannot wait to go back to try something else!  The setting is so pretty and the staff were lovely, definitely worth a visit and if you go on a Friday or Saturday Totnes Hippy market is on to walk it off afterwards with the faint aroma of joss sticks, the rhythmic sound of bongo drums and lots of lovely things to see and buy.  We had a lovely day out 🙂
