Vegan Brixham

Over the past few years, a lot of Brixham restaurants and cafes have started to serve some really delicious vegan food, we recommend trying as many as possible!

Curious Kitchen, 14 – 16 Middle Street
Serving delicious brunch & lunch – things like avocado on toasted sour dough bread with toasted seeds, roasted lemon & coriander or harrissa baked beans on sour dough toast with spring onions, dairy free milkshake, brownies & cakes.

On the Rocks Smokehouse & Grill, Brixham Harbour
New in 2017, they are open for lunch & dinner – book a window table in summer doors open looking onto the harbour.
Highly recommended Moroccan Stew – utterly delicious! They change the menu seasonally but include things like Falafel Hotdog, Spicy Five Bean Burger (they substitute the brioche roll), BBQ Pulled Jack Fruit or Tacos with violife cheese!

The Rockfish, New Fish Quay
Having a dedicated chip fryer the chips are vegan friendly and gluten free! In the restaurant above the take way they also serve a tasty vegan burger.

The Old Market House, The Quay
Serving a few lovely vegan options, tried and tested the sweet potato and chickpea curry with rice and garlic naan which was absolutely delicious and the burger with chunky chips and houmous which again was really nice. There are amazing views of the harbour from here and the option to eat on the upstairs balcony if the weather is good, and if its wintertime a cosy log fire downstairs!

TCK, 11 Bolton Street
Serving lunch & dinner – Vegan pizzas, focaccia & oil and various other nibbly sides, delicious salads, and coconut & mango parfait for dessert.

The Breakwater Bistro, Breakwater Beach
Spectacular views! Great for breakfast, lunch & dinner and your dogs can join you!
For breakfast they have vegetable hash of diced potatoes, sweet potatoes, garlic & onions with grilled tomatoes & mushrooms.
For lunch & dinner they serve a lovely quinoa, beet & edamame bean burger with jacket potato & a penang vegetable curry with rice and crusty bread.

Weary Ploughman, Dartmouth Road Churston (Just before you drive into Brixham)
A whole vegan menu to pick from and vegan friendly wine!
Olives & artisan breads or brushchetta for starters
Vegan burger, Sausages or Pizza for mains – the chips are cooked in with meat products so order the new potatoes.
Really really good vegan Sunday roast!
Sadly no vegan dessert.

Weatherspoons, 5 Bolton Street
If you are after a quick bite they do a Quinoa Salad, Five Bean Chilli, Teriyaki Noodles, Sweet Potato, Spinach & Chickpea Curry and varying sides.

The Guardhouse Café, Berryhead (On the nature reserve in a Napoleonic-era fortress!)
Serving soups, sandwiches, cous cous, salads & really good cake!

Bombay Mix Indian Takeway, 2 Milton Street 01803 859929
Recommended to me by some Indian guests that stayed and said it ranked as one of the best Indian takeaways they had ever had! High praise indeed! If you call up and make them aware you are vegan they will advise what is or isn’t suitable – totally delicious!

Oats Healthy Living Store, 13 Fore Street
Sells organic produce, cleaning products, toiletries and makeup, zero waste natural food dispensers and serve vegan sandwiches, lunches and cream teas!

Holland & Barrett, 36 Fore Street
Usual suspects plus a frozen section including ice cream!
